1822-1858 Rock Prairie Road College Station, Texas - College Station

There is a deep pothole in the eastbound lane on Rock Prairie Rd, just before the intersection with the southbound Texas 6 Frontage Rd.
Presently, due to the construction, the lane is very constrained in its width. So, missing that pothole is tricky and create a hazard when the vehicle has to weave out of that lane. And getting your small car's wheel falling into that pothole can damage your car's suspension and have you grounded right there.

Also, the necessity to break there slows the traffic that is already backed up quite a bit during different portions of the day.

Please, get the pothole fixed ASAP.

  • 2001-2399 Bird Pond Road College Station, Texas - College Station

On Bird Pond Rd, there is a portion that has a speed limit of 55 mph. However, North-East bound has been missing the sign (for almost 2 years now).
    It needs to be restored.
Note that the portion of the road where the sign used to be is still within the city of CS portion of the road.

This issue was reported almost 1.5 years ago, but it has not been fixed:

  • 819 South Texas Avenue College Station, Texas - College Station
For some time, there has been a pothole (possibly more than one) on SB S. Texas Ave, just before Lincoln Ave. It is in the 3rd (or possibly 2nd?) lane.
  • 1100 Hensel Drive College Station, Texas - Texas A&M University

Hensel Drive once again developed numerous sinkholes and potholes along almost entire stretch between College Ave and Meadowland St.
After multiple reports, this street was fixed 1-2 years ago, but due to the heavy construction truck traffic, as well as probably less then perfect way how the sinkholes were repaired, it's coming to a disarray again.

Please note, that last time it was happening, first you said that it is TAMU's area and needs to be reported to them (for at least portions of the street).
But then you reported it to them, and they started fixing it very soon.
( I had attempted reporting to TAMU (Aggieworks), - but it is like getting your teeth pulled. So, I appreciate your reporting this issue to A&M.)

While your will be reporting this issue to TAMU, please point out that they have done some pipe work next to the Becky Gates Children Center, but left some large holes in the driveway next to the Center, including one huge sinkhole in that driveway, and it's been like that for several weeks now.

  • Rock Prairie Road College Station, Texas - College Station

There is a large and quickly developing pothole at Rock Prairie Rd (Eastbound), right past the feeder road (Texas 6 Frontage Rd., NB) - at the corner where Valero gas station and Corner Store is.

    Please, get it fixed.
    Thank you!

  • 1701 University Drive East College Station, Texas - Code Enforcement Zone 1

There are multiple potholes (at least half a dozen) in the 3rd (leftmost) westbound lane on University Drive East in the stretch between approximately Texas Roadhouse and West branch of Tarrow Street . Most of them are under the right wheel.
Some of them are yet small, but all these are quickly growing, becoming a problem.
There are also multiple extended cracks in the same lane/stretch that might better be fixed now, before they open up and develop into potholes.

There are also similar potholes in a few places in the Eastbound lanes, e.g. in the left-turn lane to Forest Dr.

I reported this issue 3 months ago (Issue: 1798245) https://seeclickfix.com/issues/1798245 . Nothing has been done about it. The potholes are becoming worse.
Please followup on it with TxDOT.

  • Hensel Drive College Station, Texas - Texas A&M University

A sinkhole is developing around the utility hole near the sharp turn of Hensel Dr. The issue is aggravated by the traffic of the heavy construction trucks.

One has to watch and to swirl to avoid getting the tire and suspension damaged. This being at the turn of Hensel Dr. creates a danger of a collision with the oncoming traffic.

If this area is under A&M management, please report it to them. In such cases, previously, you had a good success. I found reporting problems to A&M (AggieWorks) a complete sink of time and energy.

  • 4076 South Texas Avenue College Station, Texas - Central College Station

At Texas Ave South (southbound), aka TX-6B, prior to the intersection with Deacon Dr., there are no signs indicating that only the left lane is for the entrance to the freeway (TX-6).
As a result, a lot of drivers are unaware that they are supposed to be in the left lane. They cross the intersection, and see the sign that they are supposed to be in the left lane, while they are in the right one.

As a result (and especially since the left lane is for two directions: left, the freeway entrance, and straight, to continue on the service road), this creates extremely dangerous situation with the cars from the right lane cutting to the left in front of the traffic that continue on the service road.

This happens many times, every day.
Some people do it from bravado, but many people do it due to the lack of the proper signage.
It might be difficult to enforce the rules for the "hot-heads"(although a police giving tickets for this violation, instead of the regular speed traps on Texas near campus, might send the right message).
A proper signage is easier to achieve: put a lane information sign half way between the intersection with Brothers Blvd. and Deacon Dr. And then put signs prohibiting freeway entrance from the right lane.

Please, pass this information to the correct department (TX-DoT?).

  • 3458-3608 Texas-Frontage Avenue South College Station, Texas - Central College Station

    As previously reported here:
    https://seeclickfix.com/issues/1561303
    and here:
    https://seeclickfix.com/issues/1589631
Lots of mud/dirt continues to be dragged out from the unpaved lot of All American Stone & Turf along Texas Ave/ SH-6 frontage road. You can see the dirt spread at least 100 ft (sometimes a few hundreds feet) along the road.

Contrary to what was indicated in https://seeclickfix.com/issues/1561303 , the business doesn't sweep quickly, and the mud and dust continue being on the road for days.

Besides other problems (see the previous two issues), the big problem is the road safety:
    1. It creates a safety hazard: changes traction on the pavement, making it slippery, as well as creating uneven traction.

  • 817 University Drive College Station, Texas - Texas A&M University

    Safety problem:

There is a pothole in the leftmost lane of East-bound University Dr. right at the intersection with College Ave.
If you are making a left turn from the South-bound College Ave, from the leftmost of the two left-turn lanes, then you are likely to get into it with the left side tires.
The cars that are trying to avoid that pothole, are forced to weave into the second (right) lane making the same left turn, thus creating a potentially dangerous situation at this extremely busy intersection.

  • Hensel Drive College Station, Texas - Texas A&M University

There are several large potholes in the North (NE)-bound lane of Hensel Dr, in several places between Ball St. and W-X Row.
That area was repaired about a year ago. However, the fact that it was done sloppily (it was raining when they were filling up those sinkholes, so that they had to redo that again right away) combined with the heavy trucks going to several construction sites along Hensel Dr., resulted in several of them redeveloping.

At least some of them are likely to be under University's jurisdiction, but I hope the city of CS would pass this information alone to TAMU's administration.
These potholes are safety hazards, as the drivers are forced to move toward the center of the street to avoid damages to the cars. And that can lead to head-on collisions. Also, it takes driver's attention away from the traffic and pedestrians, while there is a high pedestrian traffic (with little KIDS!) in that area.

  • 317 College Avenue College Station, Texas - Texas A&M University
There are several large pothole in the 1st (right) southbound lane on College Ave right at the turn to Hensel Dr.
It is almost impossible to turn onto Hensel Dr. without getting into one of those potholes.
That area was repaired not too long ago, but the heavy trucks go to the several construction along Hensel Dr. have bombed out the pavement.

1600-1798 South Texas Avenue College Station, Texas - SouthSide Area
There is a pothole in the middle (#2 from the right) southbound lane on Texas Ave, just before the intersection with Harvey Rd.
It is not very big yet (but already rather deep), but will soon become larger if not fixed.
  • Hermann Park Dr. Houston, Texas - Medical

It became a routine that most approaches to Hermann Park Dr. are blocked:
    1. It is impossible to get to Hermann Park Dr. directly from Main Street.
    2. Entrance from Cambridge Street is blocked as well.

With all these closures and luck of guidance, many cars are wondering around (especially for out-of-town visitors), creating unnecessary extra traffic in the areas. There are no signs for detours. Most (all?) map navigation engines suggest driving on Main street and then getting to Hermann Park Dr. When you follow those directions, and get a barricade, - what would you do? you try going on Fannin Street, looking for a place to make a U-turn. Fannin St. is busy as it is, with the trains. And then you make a left turn onto Cambridge. That turn is complicated (with very confusing signs!) when the trains are approaching, as you have to share the lane with a train.
And then if you made a U-turn on Cambridge, Right-turn onto Funnin St. is also always busy, and frequently it takes more than 1 (sometimes 3!) light cycles to pass that intersection.

On top of that, all entrances to the parking by the Zoo, except for one are blocked, which make that yet another bottle-neck.
And if you do not know that, if you miss that entrance, you create additional traffic as you are trying to get back.

    Suggestions:
    1. Reconsider the traffic patterns for people getting to the main parking for the main entrance to the Zoo and Hermann Park train.
Those "temporary" barricades became a permanent feature: on weekends and all-week along.
It is ridiculous to have the streets and then block them off!!

    2. Improve signs. Give people information of how they can get around the barricades.
    3. Work with Google Maps and other similar navigation providers to provide information about the ACTUAL street layout and closures.

All these measures would help decrease the unnecessary traffic in the area!

  • Hensel Street College Station, Texas - Texas A&M University

The construction on Hensel St. spreads the mud out to Texas Ave. This is primarily due to their heavy trucks and construction vehicles.
Most recently, that mud has stayed for at least three weeks, if not more, and nobody cares to clean it.
This creates a safety hazard on Texas Avenue, as the central turning lane filled with mud causes slipping, and even rocks flying from the tires.
The construction site must clean up after themselves, and it should not be from the city's budget.

They also bombed out Hensel Street, but it looks like they are going to pave it. (Will they?)

    Dear City Officials:

There are some problems with the operation of this website, and with how the city officials are dealing with the issue reports recently. It is very good that the city officials are responding quickly to the issues, and also have gone recently through the backlog of old issues in the attempt to close them.

However, there are also problems with the new MO:
    1. The issues are CLOSED and ARCHIVED even before they are resolved.
    Here is an example:
    http://seeclickfix.com/issues/1561303

    2. (at least in my case), - I no longer receive any e-mail notifications when the issues received comments, get answered or change status.
(Those are enabled in my account preferences, and I used to receive them previously.)

    3. (at least in my case) The issues reported sometimes do not show up right away - neither on the "front page" for CS, nor in my profile, "my content", and seemingly disappear. It was only today that I saw a very brief notice that it will show up after approval by a moderator.
E.g. with the issue referenced above, first I couldn't find it (it was probably going through the "moderation"), and then it got closed and archived, I couldn't find it, and thought it was lost.
    So, I posted this issue:
    http://seeclickfix.com/issues/1589631
It also got closed and ARCHIVED within an hour after being posted.

All this prevents people from being able to add to the issue or to find those issues that are still unresolved.

Note, that the second report above has ADDITIONAL information, compared to the first one, namely the dust clouds issue, which would not be resolved by the solution reported by the city officials.

    In summary,
    1. Please, stop closing and archiving issues immediately, especially before the issue is resolved.

Otherwise, it appears as if you are trying to close all the issues just to report on how many issues have been closed. And I hope that is not the intent.

    2. When you close it, please do not ARCHIVE it right away. If something was not resolved properly or completely, people can re-open the issue and/or followup on the issue (and sometimes just with a praise and confirmation that the work was done well).

    3. Please have the support team fixing the e-mail notifications.
I reported that to the website tech-support, -- and received an e-mail confirmation for that, - but I don't know if they would work on it. In the past sometimes they did, and sometimes they didn't.

    Thank you!

  • 4426 Rock Prairie Road College Station, Texas - College Station

I just recently noticed that at the corner of Rock Prairie Road and private drive-way (google maps report the address 4426 Rock Prairie Rd, but sometimes it gives a wrong street number, - so see the actual marker on the map - it is exact), - the fire hydrant has some pipe attached to it.
I've observed it over a period of a month, but apparently, according to Google street image, it was there in Feb. 2013 already.
    My concerns are:
    1. I do not know the reason for that pipe, but I can see two possibilities:
    a) The water is used for private needs. Than it is a waste of city (taxpayers' money) resources.
    b) If it is done for legitimate purposes, it should be done PROPERLY, not as a patch-up job. It is a safety hazard: the water can burst through that and flood the road. This looks like a temporary installation that became permanent.
Take a look at the recent photos (I will upload them as a follow-up comments, as this interface allows uploading only one photo at a time): they show that the the sleeve around the joint had been undone, and not in the original shape as see on the Google street image photos.

    2. Isn't it a violation of the fire code?
This hydrant might be hard to use in case it needs to be used.
(I suspect it would take long time to disconnect this pipe.)

  • Texas-Frontage Avenue South College Station, Texas - Central College Station

Every time there is a rain, lots of mud/dirt is dragged out from the unpaved lot of All American Stone & Turn along Texas Ave/ SH-6 frontage road. You can see the dirt spread at least 100 ft (sometimes a few hundreds feet) along the road.
There are three major problems with that:
    1. It creates a safety hazard: changes traction on the pavement, making it slippery, as well as creating uneven traction.
    2. It makes street (and cars running on it) dirty.
    3. I am not sure if AAST has its own (or pays for) street cleaning operation, but I suspect that it is a waste of city resources - taxpayer's money for the private benefit. AAST must pave their lot.

When it is dry and very windy, the gust winds create dust clouds on that road, which is also a safety hazard (and also spreading dirt that needs to be cleaned by the city)

Look at the street pavement -- most of the time it is dirty in that area. And even if it has been dry for a while, you can see dirt accumulating along the side curb for a few 100s of feet along that frontage road, - in the amount that are much greater than elsewhere.
