  • Texas-Frontage Avenue South College Station, Texas - Central College Station

The business located next to this portion of the road has some type of storage yard. (Google Maps identifies the business as "All American Stone and Turf"). The problem is that the yard is unpaved. As a result, every time, after a good rain, their trucks bring mud to the street in large quantities (plus there is possibly some run-off as well).
Some times that mud is not cleaned quickly, and for several days one drives through it. Besides aesthetics, it is a safety concern as well.

When it is dry and windy, the sand if blowing onto the road as well, also creating safety hazard.

I don't know if it is municipal trucks that clean this street eventually, or the business does that (which I doubt). If it is a municipal cleaning truck, then it is a saving for that business at the expense of the City (taxpayers' money). And as such, that's a waste.
I hope that the City can obligate the business to pave that yard so that waste of taxpayers' money is stopped. Even if it is the business that does cleaning, it is ridiculous that they've been spreading their mud routinely over long period of time over streets of CS.

  • 2001-2399 Bird Pond Road College Station, Texas - College Station

On Bird Pond Rd, there is a portion that has a speed limit of 55 mph. However, North-East bound has been missing the sign (for quite a while now).
    It need to be restored.

While I am not sure if it is still within CS jurisdiction area or just beyond it, when this higher speed zone starts, but even if it is beyond CS, I hope you can report it to the right office (TX DoT?)

  • 1100 Hensel Drive College Station, Texas - Texas A&M University
The pavement over two blocks on Hensel Drive - near Becky Gates Children's Center is all bombed-out. It has been in this conditions for many months now, and nothing is done.
  • 1405 University Dr College Station, TX - College Station
The sprinklers need to be adjusted/fixed.
When they are working 8:40pm-ish, they are spraying on the cars and pavement in the right lane, or in some parts, - 2 lanes of University Dr. (East-bound) between Polo Rd. and S.Texas Ave.
While they adjusted the sprinklers right at the corner (as was reported in another issue: http://seeclickfix.com/issues/222253-sprinklers-spray-the-street-pavement-right-turn-lane-from-university-dr ), this area, west of the intersection with Texas now needs adjustment (it's been going for at least 2 weeks now).
    This is A&M grounds.
  • University Dr And S. Texas Ave. College Station, TX - College Station
    Sprinklers need to be adjusted/fixed.
When they are working (somewhere around 9-10pm), they are spraying on the cars and pavement in the right-turn lane from University Dr. (East-bound) to S.Texas Ave (South-bound).
This has been going for many weeks now.
  • Stasney St And University Dr. College Station, TX - Texas A&M University

"No left turn" sign is needed at this intersection for the traffic from Stasney St.

There is not left turn from Stasney St. to University Dr. in College Station. It is clear from the design of the divider. However, since the recent revival of Stasney St. (the pavement was redone), there are many cases when people are driving out on Stasney and are trying to make the left turn onto University.
It makes it very dangerous, especially since there is traffic coming out of the A&M North Parking Garage. The cars coming out of the garage and trying to get into the left turn lane before the traffic light with Nagle St. do not expect traffic from Stasney. I've witnessed several near-accident situations in the recent months.

  • 1862 Rock Prairie Rd And Tx-6 Frontage Road (Northbound) College Station, TX - College Station
There are pot holes at the intersection Tx-6 Frontage N.bound and Rock Prairie Rd. I suspect because of the recent increased traffic due to the construction of Scott & White hospital, these hole appeared and are growing fast.
  • S Texas Ave College Station, TX - South Knoll Neighborhood Plan

Traffic lights on S. Texas Ave are not synchronized. This results in unnecessary stops for the traffic crossing considerable part of the CS along this major route.

Just as an example, on Monday, June 26, 2012, while driving north-bound on Texas Ave from 2818 to University (driving at speed limit once it is reached from the stop) in the middle of the day, I had to stop at _all_ but 3 traffic lights (the non-stop stretch happened to be between Holleman Dr. and G. Bush Dr.).
This happens at various times of the day, not always that bad, but nevertheless.

I realize that BCS is not a huge city like LA or Houston, but with a bunch of new traffic lights installed on Texas Ave. recently, it became an important issue, especially for the university commuters.
According to United States Department of Transportation Research and Innovative Technology Administration (RITA), the traffic light synchronization can reduced delays by 13-94%, and in Texas it managed to provide ~ 25% improvement ( http://goo.gl/qKzfH ).
"It also leads to reduced fuel consumption, reduced emissions, and improved air quality."

I hope the City of CS would find some way (resources) of implementing this "low-cost, high-benefit approach to reducing congestion" and improving air quality.

  • Farm To Market Road 60 College Station, TX - Texas A&M University
The mobile display for the west-bound University Ave. that is supposed to alert drivers is very cryptic. Taking into account that its cycle is rather long compared to the time that it is visible (if you are driving in a car), - it is close to impossible to understand what exactly it is meant to say. It took me about 2 weeks of driving to campus to finally understand what it tries to say.
The display is almost useless as it distracts attention much more than informs. The people in charge should reprogram the message to make it more clear.
  • University Dr And S. Texas Ave. College Station, TX - College Station
East-bound University Dr., just before intersection with Texas Ave., the right right-turn lane pavement is damaged (I believe some work was done there recently, and the pavement was never restored properly), and should be repaired.
  • S Farm To Market Road 2818 College Station, TX - College Station

There are no signs for the temporary lane designations in the road work on FM-2818 (Harvey Mitchell Pkwy).
E.g. if you are driving westbound on FM-2818, each intersection has 2 lanes open (out of 3). The most left (normally left-turn) lane is close, and the middle lane that is normally for the straight-going traffic serves as a left-turn lane. BUT... there are no signs for that. The drivers have to guess.
This sometimes creates problems for cars who drove into that middle lane but needed to go straight. Then they block the traffic. And since some traffic lights (e.g. with S. Texas Ave.) are very short, - this gets the already congested intersection blocked for much longer, until the poor victim can come to the lane of his/her intended direction.

This is happens on several intersections of FM2818, not just with S. Texas Ave.

Additionally, - specifically for the intersection with S. Texas Ave.: The traffic that is turning right (to northbound Texas Ave.) is blocked for no particular reason.
If instead of blocking the turning lane, they had all three lanes open, but dedicated (temporarily) the most right lane for Right-Turn-ONLY, CLEARLY INDICATED that, and blocked (barricaded) the straight traffic at the intersection immediately behind the right-turning branch, - it would have eased the traffic at that intersection.
(I.e. it would leave only the central lane for the straight traffic, even though it would be going into the right-most lane on the other side. But that should be no problem, if the right-most lane is barricaded at the entrance to the intersection, and if there are good signs on FM-2818, - both on approach (after intersection with Dartmouth) and at the intersection itself.

  • 2800 Rock Prairie Rd College Station, TX - College Station

There are dust clouds during wind gusts blown from the construction site across Rock Prairie Rd. between Old Rock Prairie Rd and Stonebrook Dr.
These clouds are very much like a sand storm. Not only that they contaminate the surrounding houses, but they also create health hazard (breathing) and driving hazards (decreased visibility).

I hope that something can be done about this.
I know that during similar stages of construction on A&M campus, they watered the dusty parts of the construction site to prevent the dust from spreading.

  • Glenhaven Dr College Station, TX - Code Enforcement Zone 1
The STOP sign is missing at the enterance to Glenhaven Dr. from the driveway between Home Depot parking lot and other businesses. The pole still seems to be there, but the sign is not. (as seen on July 5, 2011)
  • Glenhaven Dr College Station, TX - Code Enforcement Zone 1

It is obvious that the straight direction is intended to be allowed, but the road marking doesn't show the straight direction (toward Home Depot) - only for the two turns.
See the image attached (from Google Maps hybrid image).

I see car drivers getting stumbled at that intersection on a regular basis - for more than an year, probably two already.

The road should be marked so that the straight direction is indicated for the traffic trying to get to Home Depot.

Note that it is already rather ridiculous that it is impossible to get to Home Depot and Olive Garden from Forest Dr. (If you turn into the plaza from University just before Cheddar's):
The drive that goes toward Home Depot next to the Car Wash is marked as one way in the opposite direction.

  • 3411 3499 Longmire Dr College Station, TX - Central College Station
Potholes in several portions of the intersection of Rock Prairie Rd & Longmire Dr. These potholes are along the rainwater gutter, at the place close to where the pedestrians would be crossing Longmire (on both sides of R.P. Rd.). These potholes are across the entire lane of traffic.
These potholes are especially annoying because they are inside the gutter, which makes the impact on the vehicle suspension amplified.
  • S Texas Ave College Station, TX 77840, USA - Eastgate Area
There is a significant pothole in the 3rd lane (counting from the rightmost) in the North-bound direction of S. Texas Ave., just before the traffic light with New Main/Walton. (exactly, as marked on the map). The pothole is about one-three car lengths behind the stop line.
It is hard to take a photo at this active part of the road.
  • Ireland St College Station, TX 77840, USA - Texas A&M University

This is a 4-way intersection with the traffic entering from 3 directions, and a protected turn light for the left turn from East-bound University Dr. into Ireland St. (two turning lanes).
However, there is no indication for the
pedestrians crossing Ireland St. about the phase of the traffic light.
This results in a situation when the protected-left-turn light turns on (for relatively short time, compared to the number of cars in two turning lanes), while the pedestrians are crossing Ireland St., creating a safety hazard.
Often, the situation becomes even more dangerous, when the vehicle in the leftmost turning lane is tall, thus, limiting the visibility of the intersection and pedestrians for the car in the second turning lane.

Also, at the same intersection, some visitors coming out of the parking garage to Ireland street make an illegal left turn on a one-way Ireland St., and then come to that same intersection, not realizing that they are on one way street. Since there is no traffic light for them (and it is not needed), they just enter the intersection as they like, creating hazardous situations for the oncoming (University dr.) traffic. I've observed this on several separate occasions.

I propose that some sort of sign, indicating that it's a wrong direction (such as "Wrong Way" on divided highways) would be placed on Ireland St. right in front of the intersection - for the cars heading North on Ireland St. (for the drivers who didn't realize that they made an illegal turn).

  • 1713 Park Pl College Station, TX 77840, USA - SouthSide Area
These potholes are severe. Whowever is in charge (city, HEB, plaza owner) should have them fixed. They destroy cars' suspensions.
