Description
They have just redone all the curb stones on Summer Street by the South School.
When replacing the curb stones, they did not include any crosswalks in front of the South School. There used to be two crosswalks there and now the nearest crosswalks are at the corner of Main Street or down the road at Pine Street. Anyone in a wheelchair or with a stroller would have difficulty getting over the curb at South School.
The next step on Summer Street is the final Paving. Should this be addressed before that happens?
Thanks for looking into this.

As part of the recent resurfacing project on Summer Street and in the keeping with the Town’s commitment to Complete Streets the Public Works Department removed non-compliant accessible ramps and installed compliant ones at the strategic location of Pine Street at Summer Street.
The school and crossing guards are aware of the change and will be stationed at Main Street / Summer Street and Pine Street / Summer Street. This new layout more efficiently handles the flow of school children and improves accessibility of all residents.
This week the top course, crosswalk striping, signs and other improvements will be installed prior to the start of school.

Great job on refurbishing Summer Street and getting it ready for the school season.
Is that paint on the crosswalk the final product? This is a very thin coat of spray paint that barely covers the road surface. This is a very busy street and I'm sure that will wear away quickly. It does not seem to be up to the usual standards for painting a crosswalk.
Thanks
