Dirtbikes on mitchell drive at 6 pm today, dirt bikes on ferry street bridge at 6 pm 4/14/15. Fair Haven is infested with them. Seems like this is not a priority for police chief and mayor, not a peep from either on how they are going to implement confiscation laws to get the bikes off the street (I remember that she was the one member of the New Haven delegation in Hartford to not co-sponsor the legislation allowing the city to raise fees to reclaim confiscated bikes). It's going to be a long hot summer...

In the city's defense they had that very satisfying sting the year before last when state law changed. I think we're due for another perhaps, unfortunately, the offenders now wear masks and know the police can't chase. I like to pull out my phone and pretend to video tape them anyways just to make them paranoid. Sometimes i do actually tape them.
I also always call the non-emergency line when I see them or hear them coming up Nicoll and give what descriptions I can. The police have been quick to respond in all those cases.

Be careful when you are video taping them, you do not know how these criminals will react. Also I would not use my real name when posting but it is up to you.

If you know where dirt bikes, quads and ATVs are garaged, report it to the New Haven Police Criminal Intel Unit. The officer in charge is:
Sergeant Karl Jacobson
New Haven Police Department
Criminal Intel Unit/Narcotics
One Union Ave, New Haven CT
phone: (203) 946-6098
Fax: (203) 946-6293
e-mail: kjacobson@newhavenct.net
He will respond to emails and calls. If you report a known ATV or dirt bike location to him, he will investigate and confiscate the machines.
