Per Public Works: The damage is located in the driveway portion of the sidewalk and is the property owner’s responsibility to replace and maintain.

Can the neighborhood expect that the City will inform the owner to get this fixed?

Can you confirm that the property owner has been notified to fix the sidewalk portion of their driveway?

Thanks Raleigh DLA. This has been reported for a year now here on See Click Fix. It just gets closed over and over. The hole in the sidewalk is at least 6 inches and is dangerous for pedestrians as well, not just for handicapped people, but regular walkers who may be out for a stroll.

We will check with Public Works on this one.

A number of See Click Fix issues have gotten lost in the system, and we are just now recovering them. My apologies for the very slow response to this post!

We have contacted the property owner, but the Council has established a process that is property-owner friendly, and sometimes it takes quite a while to actually get the repairs made when there is no immediate hazard. We will continue to follow up.

I did receive a note indicating that we have sent multiple letters to the property owner. When the City took over maintenance of sidewalks we ceded some of our enforcement authority, and therefore do not have as big a "stick" to get people to comply. The property owner would be liable if the repairs were not made, but that won't prevent an accident. I am sorry we can't do more. This driveway was replaced earlier this week and billed to property owner. The one next door will be completed in the next month by the owner Duncan-Parnell.
