  I'd prefer if the giant bush across Hawthorne from this tree (at the intersections of Fellsway East and Hawthorne) were trimmed back, so the sidewalk on at least one side of the street was accessible.

  This continues to be a problem. This section of sidewalk seems to clearly be on Hawthorne, not on Fellsway (as Sherri pointed out months ago).

  This is clearly Hawthorne Street and not the Fellsway. I could understand if we were in blizzard conditions and the tree could not be seen because it was covered with feet of snow but come on. I do not want to see this beautiful tree taken down prematurely either. Can't we move the sidewalk by doing an easement of the neighbors front lawn or into the street? This tree is about 137 years old you can tell by the rings. I'm a dendrochrologist in my spare time and give these so called ring-a-ling lessons on weekends all the time. I would propose that a permanent suspension bridge be erected so residents walking down Hawthorne to the Fellsway could walk over this thing of beauty from the last century. When building this bridge just use caution to make sure it isn't underspanned as these have lots of disadvantages (silver bridge in West Virginia).

  Spring is here! During this time of the year the DPW reviews all outstanding sidewalk repair requests. We take the entire list, separate it by wards and then rate each issue from Most Severe to Least Severe. When in your Ward we use this list to determine which sidewalks to start with. Thank you for your patience with this matter.

  This problem continues to get worse because the small tree (maybe a mulberry?) in front of the tree in the picture is growing.

  Really? I have been walking past this beautiful tree for 11 years now. Why would anyone want it to come down. Walk in the street for a short distance. It is not a busy road.

  I agree the tree shouldn't be cut down, but the sidewalk needs to be fixed. It's not safe to walk with little ones in the street.
