Description

This is ridiculous!!! We the hard working taxpayers are continuously having to pay for this cleanup. Homeless camp just removed is now back with 6 shelters and another pile of trash!!! I live very close to this area and am tired of seeing these people trash this park and then just be removed for a day or two and allowed to come back with no consequences. There is help for them out there and shelters to go to. However if you’re a junkie they aren’t accepted and end up here at Los Altos doing whatever they please! Mayor Keller and City Council please step in and do something here!

Damage to our neighborhood, community, city is not only caused by those begging on the street corners. It is supported by those believing they are doing good by giving them money. People wouldn’t stay on the corner, live along the freeway and in our parks if they weren’t paid to do so. They would go to shelters where real help awaits. I donate to shelters & food banks instead of paying people to live in deplorable conditions.

The problem is that ACLU is sueong the city on behalf of the homeless, stating they have the roght to do this. As much as the city tries to move them out of the park to the shelters, the homeless refuse to go, because they dont like rules. I wont even take my dog there anymore. Its sad the destruction

The ACLU fought for their right to beg with signs - free speech. Not to give the the right to sleep in parks and along the freeway. The city could enact ordinances like LA, CA did to prohibit camping or storage in parks.
Again if the good citizens of ABQ didn’t pay these people with food & money to stay on the street corners they wouldn’t.
We are part of the problem.

I am so tired of homeless huggers. These people are all on drugs, leave a mess for everyone to pick up, meanwhile WE pay. Makes no sense. ABQ needs to get off there rear ends and enforce.

Sleeping is one thing, building a shelter is another which should be held to the same standards as everyone else who wants to build. New littering law should be in effect as well, ticket them, don’t pay, get a warrant, go to jail! Oh wait either way the tax payers lose.....
