Michigan Bicyclists

  • 1330 Otto Street Lansing, MI 48906, USA - Lansing
Playground structure equipment damaged. Hazard to children.
  • 101-129 Marshall Street Lansing, MI 48912, USA - Lansing

Pedestrian signal at Michigan and Shepard does not ever change to walk, even after hitting the push button. I waited for three cycles before playing frogged to cross the road. A regular at the bus stop informed me that it hasn't worked for nearly a year.

The same thing is true for the pedestrian signal east a couple blocks at Clemens and Michigan...never changes to Walk. Please have somebody adjust these signals as soon as possible. Thanks!

Sidewalk in front of Board of Water and Light Cedar St location has not been cleared. The sidewalk has a couple of inches of wet snow, which made it very difficult to pass. Would have been impossible for wheelchair users. Even worse, the plows that cleared their driveway and adjacent Jay St by the Nuthouse, piled the snow many feet high directly over the curb cut and sidewalk forcing people to endanger themselves by climbing over/around a mountain of snow or by walking in Cedar St. This is a very clear violation of the City's snow/ice removal ordinance.

Mattress left by curb sometime this last week.
  • Kalamazoo And Regent St. Lansing, MI - Lansing

The small section of bike lane along westbound Kalamazoo St. just past Regent is in very bad condition and poses a majority safety concern for bicyclists who come upon it unexpectedly. It's been like this for sometime now. The pavement is crumbling severely. I believe a plow may have caught some of the deteriorating pavement last winter and actually pushed part of the roadbed up and onto the curb leaving a dangerous mixture of deep potholes and mounded asphalt. I've been meaning to post this for some time now. I first noticed it this Spring, but it has gotten progressively worse over the summer and into the fall.

It's such a small patch, it would be great if the City could still get this fixed this fall, potentially when you are making other roadway repairs around town. The Township just finished patching a small portion of road and bike lane just East of this. Would have been a great time for neighborly collaboration.

Noticed that this street light has been on during the day this past week. Sensor must be malfunctioning.
  • 1501-1511 Prospect Street Lansing, MI 48912, USA - Lansing
Large hole forming on Prospect at Lathrop. Looks like it was patched recently, but has caved in. Had to swerve around it on my bicycle to avoid a crash.
  • 610-618 East Kalamazoo Street Lansing, MI 48912, USA - Lansing
Donation box in front of liquor store on Kalamazoo and East St is overflowing with "donations". The latest are some broken TVs strewn about. I left a message with the number on the box.
  • 989-1197 Aurelius Road Lansing, MI 48912, USA - Lansing
Aurelius road sidepath is so overgrown that is not passable on bike in certain parts. I road the northbound section last night. I assume southbound is in similar shape.

A red trash can chained to a tree by the side of road on Kalamazoo Street in front of the Lansing Park Apartments (across from Hunter Park) has been tipped over and trash is strewn about the right of way. It's been like that for about a week. I'm not sure who maintains the trash can (the apartments or the house on the corner), but this is not the first time this has happened. The can is also not a regulation City of Lansing, Granger, or Waste Management container, so I don't suspect that any of the haulers have this on their route.

The Kalamazoo bike lane (as I imagine are all the bike lanes and shoulders within the City) is extremely dangerous right now. It is filled with a thick accumulation of dirt, glass, and other debris (see photo). The bottom of the downhill eastbound stretch right in front of Hunter Park is especially dangerous as it has collected all the debris from the street over the entire winter. Riding over that stretch at higher speeds from going downhill is extremely hazardous, especially because the parallel roadway right through there is laden with deep pot holes. Scary combination, especially if are not aware of the hazard before descending down the hill. I notified the traffic department about this problem area almost a month ago. Hopefully you can get out there to have it cleaned up right away. With today as the first day of Bike Month, it certainly would be appropriate and appreciated to sweep all the bike lanes/shoulders throughout the City. Thanks for looking into this.
  • 134 Leslie Street Lansing, MI - Lansing
Trash is blowing all around the neighborhood.
  • 1815-1825 E Michigan Ave Lansing, MI 48912, USA - Lansing
Empty lot next to Michigan Mart has apparently turned into a used car lot, with three cars for sale parked in the grass, which is normally filled with trash. Is it code, to park/sell multiple cars on a vacant lot?
  • 400 Leslie St Lansing, MI 48912, USA - Lansing
Donation box is routinely overflowing with "donated" trash, making the end of the street look like a dump. The latest being a mattress even though the box says its for clothes. Since this morning the matress was "tagged" with spray paint. Have called the number listwd before numerous times, but always get a machine.
  • 2101-2121 E Michigan Ave Lansing, MI 48912, USA - Lansing
Construction worker fine sign poorly placed on MI Ave near Fairview. Sidewalk is barley passable. Was difficult with a stroller. Would be impossible in a wheelchair.
  • 317-399 Allen St Lansing Charter Township, MI 48912, USA - Lansing
Somebody picked through the dumpster at Allen and Kzoo and left trash all over the parking lot. Called property mgt. company listed in photo to report and was hung up on.
  • 1809-1815 E Michigan Ave Lansing Charter Township, MI 48912, USA - Lansing
At least 100 empty cigarette packs (no joke) and other trash in the empty lot next to Michigan Mart advertised for sale by Neal Sanford of Preview Properties. Give him a call: 1-800-308-3840. Been there for months - have been meaning to report sooner. An absolute disgrace.
  • Lansing River Trail Lansing, MI 48910, USA - Lansing
Could be very dangerous for a bicyclist coming around the corner of the bridge if their tire catches it.
  • 330-484 Marshall St Lansing, MI 48912, USA - Lansing
  • 1700-1798 State Highway 143 Lansing, MI 48912, USA - Lansing
On street parking blocks accessibility for CATA bus stop to stop at curb for pedestrians and wheelchair users. Removing one parking spot would solve problem as there are business curb cuts on either side which combined would provide adequate space for bus to pull up to curb.
