If only Heights Blvd (or any residential road in Texas) were 25 MPH!

Not sure about the placement of the garbage cans. The signs, however, are not official speed limit signs but REMINDERS to slow down—You may not have noticed them pasted to garbage cans throughout the Heights. They are part of an awesome effort spearheaded by a Heights resident—Heights Keep Kids Alive Drive 25. There is a Facebook page and information about where you can get stickers for your own garbage cans if you decide to join. Before Covid-19 pedestrian and cyclist fatalities were a huge issue in this neighborhood. Once people start driving again they unfortunately will be once again.

Yeah, garbage cans shouldn’t be in the bike lane, but I’m not seeing “Speed Limit” in those pictures.

All well and good but with trash dumpster out all the time, our neighborhood will be even more dangerous for cars, pedestrians and bike riders. They clutter up our road and are completely not needed all week long. If the neighborhood wants to suggest a slower speed than the posted speed, I suggest they do it through the city of Houston and put up proper road signs. Trash dumpster are allowed on the road from 7pm the night before regular trash pickup and should be brought in after they are emptied. Not allowed to stay on the road.
