Description

My concern is a matter of traffic safety, we have had several vehicle accidents and close calls in front of the Erector Square. On several occasions’ tenants and/or visitors proceeding to made a left-hand turn into the Erector Square parking lot have had vehicles speed pass them on the left. There have been three accidents in recent months where someone was signaling to turn left into the parking lot started the turn and were hit by an oncoming vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed and passing on the left.

The high rate of speed on Peck Street has made to street dangerous especially when entering and exiting the Erector Square parking lots. The posted speed limit is ignored, "no parking" areas are ignored, parking next to the fire hydrant is ignored, vehicles are parked almost in the middle of the street or so close to the driveway you cannot see around them when trying to exit onto the street.

This issue is of grave concern because Erector Square has several tenants that have programming for children and adults. Music Haven being one of them. The children attending Music Haven are transported by their parents and by bus. The children are being put at risk every time they exit a vehicle or bus and need to cross the street.

There are families living across that don’t allow their children in front of their own home for fear that one day the speeding vehicle will lose control and collide with a child.

Some complaints regarding the increase in drug and prostitution activity have been noted on SeeClickFix.com and were specific to Peck Street. At the same time, I understand that is not a site that is monitored by NHPD.
